The Wiregrass Scottish Rite Learning Center, Inc. (WSRLC) supports programs to help children with speech and language disorders, particularly in the treatment of dyslexia. Dyslexia is a type of learning disability that prevents children from learning to read as well as their intelligence level would suggest.
Since 1985, hundreds of area children who struggled to read because of dyslexia have been taught to read using the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital Dyslexia Program. The WSRLC will assist in screening children for dyslexia and will help provide materials for teaching children who qualify. All its services are provided at absolutely no cost to the child or family.
The WSRLC is made up of Scottish Rite Masons who are willing to give their time and money to help children. It works closely with the Alabama Scottish Rite Foundation and the nationwide RiteCare Foundation to find ways to fight the adverse effects of dyslexia.
